Tony Blair agreed to act as Iraq war cheerleader according to newly released US memo
Memo from Colin Powell to President George Bush in the latest batch of Hillary Clinton's emails to be released outlines the former Prime Minister's willingness to back America against Saddam Hussein
18 Oct 2015 - The controversy over Tony Blair’s decision to back George Bush over the Iraq war has been rekindled after a memo emerged showing the Prime Minister pledged to support an invasion a year ahead of the conflict.
Details of the Prime Minister’s readiness to back the US in bringing down Saddam Hussein are contained in a note from Colin Powell, then Secretary of State, to George Bush, ahead of Mr Blair’s April 2002 summit with the President in Crawford Texas.
The memo was found in a batch of secret emails on the private server of Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, which was made available by the US courts.
At that time Tony Blair’s public position was that Britain was seeking a diplomatic, rather than military solution, to the crisis.
But, according to Mr Powell’s memo, which has been seen by the Mail on Sunday, Britain’s support for military action was already assured.
Mr Bush was told that the UK Prime Minister “will be with us”. The President was assured “The UK will follow our lead”. read more>>>
Which was all hinted at in the very public parts of the testimony in the early days of the Brit Iraq War Inquiry, thus no longer 'secret' nor 'classified', in testimony and reports at time about and since, in some of these and much more throughout:
Drip, drip, drip, "He recalled noting that: "the dog didn't bark - it grizzled." "Don't forget - this 'grizzling' for regime change was 6 months BEFORE 9/11.". drip, drip, drip, "But there was a 'sea change' in attitude after the atrocities, with former national security adviser Condolezza Rice targeting Iraq on the very day of the outrage.", drip, drip, drip, "George Bush tried to make a connection between Iraq and al-Qaida in a conversation with Tony Blair three days after the 9/11 attacks, according to Blair's foreign policy adviser of the time.", drip, drip, drip, "There was "a touching belief [in Washington] that we shouldn't worry so much about the aftermath because it was all going to be sweetness and light".", drip, drip, drip, "Boyce mentions the "dysfunctionalism" of Washington. He says that he would find himself briefing his American counterparts on what was happening in different parts of the US administration. Rumsfeld was not sharing information", drip, drip, drip...........!
The memos are likely to lead to demands for Sir John Chilcot to reopen his inquiry into the Iraq war.

Iraq War Promoted Terrorism Rather Than Reducing It
24 April 2014 - Britain’s involvement in the Iraq War promoted terrorism rather than reducing it and was a “strategic failure”, according to a major new report which estimated the cost of all UK conflicts since the end of the Cold War.
The Royal United Services Institute said the UK could face a bill of nearly £65bn, once the cost of long-term care for injured veterans was factored in, with most of the money was spent on the wars
in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The study, called Wars in Peace, said both conflicts were largely “strategic failures” for the UK, The Guardian reported."
Facts: Matthew Hoh {former Marine and foreign service officer in Afghanistan}: "We spend a trillion dollars a year on national security in this country."
"And when you add up to the Department of Defense, Department of State, CIA, Veterans Affairs, interest on debt, the number that strikes me the most about how much we're committed financially to these wars and to our current policies is we have spent $250 billion already just on interest payments on the debt we've incurred for the Iraq and Afghan wars." 26 September 2014
Bob Herbert "Losing Our Way" : "And then the staggering costs of these wars, which are borne by the taxpayers. I mean, one of the things that was insane was that, as we're at war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush administration cut taxes. This has never been done in American history. The idea of cutting taxes while you're going to war is just crazy. I mean, it's madness." Bill 'Moyers and Company': Restoring an America That Has Lost its Way 10 Oct. 2014

December 22 2014 - American taxpayers have shelled out roughly $1.6 trillion on war spending since 9/11, according to a new report from Congress’ nonpartisan research arm.
